About Us
Paducah Chess Club has existed in some form for over 50 years. At our core, we are a community of people from all walks of life who gather to make one another better chess players and better humans. We proudly boast that several of our members are on the Top 25 list for western Kentucky and Top 100 for the state of Kentucky. We have some very strong players, but we are equally proud of our new players who are just learning chess, and our scholastic chess players who are quickly gaining strength, as well as our new adult players. Paducah Chess Club truly is a home for anyone who wants to play chess in our town.
We are an affiliate of the United States Chess Federation and we organize and host several USCF events each year. Club members are heavily involved in our local, regional, and national chess community. We have members who organize and direct scholastic events. There are members who organize and direct open tournaments. We have members who serve on the boards of Kentucky-based organizations like the Purchase Chess Foundation and the Kentucky Chess Association. And we have members who direct tournaments at the national level as well.
Paducah Chess Club reformed as an unincorporated nonprofit association under KRS 273A in January 2024. See our Governance page for information about how the club operates and our governing documents.
